aRWSome Wishes

Launched in 2011 in partnership with the Community Development Councils, aRWSome Wishes reaches out to underprivileged children during the Christmas season, sharing festive warmth and joy with them.

2018

It was a night to remember for more than 500 underprivileged children at Universal Studios Singapore as they joined a shimmering and jubilant parade down the streets of New York along with Santa’s Snowy Sleigh Ride parade to mark the launch of Universal Studios Singapore’s A Universal Christmas event. Demonstrating the joy of giving and spreading festive warmth, hundreds of RWS employees fulfilled the Christmas wishes of the children beneficiaries with presents comprising Universal Studios Singapore merchandise purchased through their own voluntary contributions. In the true spirit of giving and sharing, RWS has created an eco-friendly Christmas e-card and will pledge S$5 to Community Chest – up to a maximum donation of S$250,000 – for every card sent to friends, family and loved ones.

2017

Christmas came early for 440 underprivileged children from the South West District at the seventh installment of aRWSome Wishes, held at Universal Studios Singapore. They were the first in Singapore to witness the dazzling light-up of A Universal Christmas at the theme park and also received Christmas presents they had wished for, from the contributions of our team members. More than 150 aRWSome volunteers comprising senior management and team members shared festive cheer with them at this event. Guests also played their part for charity where for every online ticket purchase to A Universal Christmas, RWS pledged S$10 to Community Chest. The aRWSome Wishes Charity Drive successfully raised S$300,000.

2016

aRWSome Wishes continued to bring joy to about 350 children beneficiaries and their families with a special day out at the S.E.A. Aquarium. The children also became Pokémon scientific researchers at the Pokémon Research Exhibition, held for the first time outside Japan, at RWS. They were amongst the first in Singapore to witness the launch of RWS's first ever Pikachu Wave parade, featuring 10 life-sized Pikachu mascots led by the official Pikachu mascot from the Pokémon Research Exhibition.

2015

The annual aRWSome Wishes on 4 December 2015 brought festive cheers to about 1,400 children beneficiaries and their families. Besides enjoying a preview of Santa’s All-Star Christmas at Universal Studios Singapore, the children also brought home their favourite Christmas presents from a four metre tall Christmas tree stacked with character-themed merchandise from Transformers, Minions and many more. Into its fifth installment, the signature event received great support from various stakeholders this year as they played a part in giving back to the community.

2014

On 18 December 2014, RWS Volunteers shared the RWS "Kampung Spirit" with the elderly at St. Vincent’s Home. The volunteers came early to put up Christmas decorations and readied the home for a festive celebration. Some of the activities included playing bingo and singing classic songs together. At lunch, the volunteers got the chance to interact with the elderly more intimately. At the end of the event, goodie bags with food supplies and daily necessities were given out.

2013

Christmas wishes of the underprivileged kids were adopted by our Team Members, who purchased the gifts for the kids they have settled on.

From sport shoes to school bags, these little gifts brought out big smiles for over 800 aRWSome Wishes recipients in December. The month long Wishes programme ended with a big bang at Telok Blangah Community Centre on 22 Dec where Santa Claus himself and his 32 yellow elfin volunteers were out in force distributing gifts. They were joined by Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade and Industry and Amy Khor, Mayor of South West District.
