Asia-Pacific Coral Reef Symposium 2023
In June 2023, S.E.A. Aquarium was proud to be a participating sponsor at the Asia-Pacific Coral Reef Symposium (APCRS) held in Singapore. The Education, Research and Conservation team’s involvement began prior to the week-long symposium; on 17th June, 30 visiting experts from the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network were treated to a VIP tour of the Aquarium and back-of-house facilities including our in-house coral propagation setup.
From 19th to 22nd June, the team and our volunteers then represented S.E.A. Aquarium at APCRS, showcasing not just the Aquarium’s work with our resident corals, but also the education, research and volunteer programmes run by the team. Visitors to our booth were also invited to examine coral specimens up close and try their hand at species identification.

We were also happy to give away bookmarks and 300 free S.E.A. Aquarium entry tickets to APCRS participants—the latter were quickly snapped up on the first day of the Symposium. Many lucky recipients were international students and researchers who were visiting the Aquarium for the first time; it was heartening to hear their glowing reviews after and their newfound appreciation for the team’s work.

Throughout the week, members of the Education, Research and Conservation team were grateful for the opportunity to listen to research presentations by as well as engage in conversation with local and international players in the realm of marine research and conservation. The team is always glad to discuss new avenues for collaboration and build new, meaningful connections with our peers and experts in the field, as S.E.A.A. strives towards becoming an institution and regional hub for marine research and conservation.
