Partnership with Community Chest

RWS is one of the forerunners in heeding the call from Community Chest for sustained giving so that social service programmes can be better planned with long-term outcomes. RWS has inked a five-year pledge from 2014 to 2018, with S$5 million cash donations and in-kind support to Community Chest.
 

2018

Community Chest Charity in the Park

On 20 January 2018, Universal Studios Singapore played host to the third edition of Community Chest Charity in the Park graced by Guest-of-Honour Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office where over 4,000 donors, volunteers, beneficiaries and their families enjoyed a night of rides, entertainment and food in the theme park.

The theme – Empower Lives Through Inclusiveness – was a celebration of strengths and a showcase of inclusiveness. Teams comprising persons with and without disabilities took part in inclusive games and experiential activities to allow them to have a better understanding of the challenges faced by beneficiaries. Held in support of SG Cares, a national movement to promote volunteerism, the event raised about S$2.3 million for 80 social service organisations supported by Community Chest.

2017

Community Chest Charity in the Park
The second edition of Charity in the Park on 18 February 2017 brought together over 4,000 beneficiaries, their caregivers, corporate donors and volunteers for an evening of food and fun at Universal Studios Singapore. Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) & Second Minister for Defence, graced the event which raised over S$2 million.
 

2016

Community Chest Charity in the Park
On 30 January 2016, Universal Studios Singapore played host to the inaugural Community Chest Charity in the Park where about 4,000 donors, the beneficiaries and their caregivers enjoyed riding the movies and a big spread of Asean Hawker fare. Co-organised with Resorts World Sentosa, the event raised more than S$2.3 million to help more than 80 charities supported by Community Chest.
 

2015

Sharity Musical
Graced by then Minister for Social and Family Development, Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Sharity Day saw 1,200 school children, beneficiaries, volunteers and partners celebrate Children’s Day with an inaugural Sharity Musical at Resorts World Theatre. Alongside Sharity was a professional and voluntary cast consisting of 50 special needs children from Grace Orchard School, and student volunteers from Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School. RWS’ five-year pledge to Community Chest was also launched, with the animated “Tree of Life”, signifying our commitment to support and nurture the next generation so that our society can grow stronger and greater.
 

2014

"Remembering Acts of Love" – Community Chest Charity Gala
The dinner, held at Resorts World Sentosa on 30 November 2014, showcased creations by celebrity-chef restaurants Osia, Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora and Forest 森. International masterchef Joël Robuchon, who is the most Michelin-decorated chef in the world with 26 Michelin Guide stars, also lent his hand by preparing an exclusive menu for a limited number of tables.

ComChest Care & Share Charity Show
The fundraiser charity concert brought people from diverse backgrounds together to celebrate the spirit of the Care & Share Movement at the Resorts World Ballroom™ on 27 July 2014. Aside from being the venue sponsor, RWS also lent our entertainment expertise for the charity show which helped raised funds for over 83 charities. Highlights included performances by popular overseas artistes, such as Wakin Chau, Valen Hsu and Elisa Chan, and MediaCorp artistes performing alongside Community Chest beneficiaries and corporate partners.

Care & Share Movement
As part of the Care & Share Movement, RWS Cares also brought beneficiaries from Rainbow Centre – Margaret Drive School on an experiential journey to S.E.A. Aquarium and Dolphin Island on 26 May 2014. Children from the Rainbow Centre had an afternoon of sun and fun as marine explorers at the S.E.A. Aquarium and Dolphin Island.
