An Extra-Ordinary Celebration

On Nov 10 2018, a total of 500 children performers – including those with disabilities – charmed and captivated the audience in a broad showcase of inclusivity in An Extra-Ordinary Celebration, held at Resorts World Theatre.

The event is Singapore’s largest inclusive concert and organised by Extra-Ordinary People Limited, a charity organisation that strives to support every person with special needs in Singapore and providing them with access to the performing arts. A stunning 90-minute stage programme of varying art forms including aikido, circus arts, Latin dance and handchimes was showcased.

A Very Special Walk

Resorts World Sentosa was the venue sponsor for A Very Special Walk, a signature fundraising event of Autism Resource Centre (Singapore). At the run, participants ran through The Maritime Experiential Museum and Universal Studios Singapore and other parts of Sentosa Island before ending at the Bull Ring with a carnival.

The event raised more than S$1 million in donations, which will go toward equipping adults with autism with employability skills through essential job training and support to match and place them in suitable jobs.

The Purple Parade

Resorts World Sentosa showed its support for The Purple Parade, a nation-wide platform that aims to promote awareness and celebrate abilities of persons with special needs. From 25 – 27 October 2018, the resort switched its façade to purple in support of the movement, as proof of its strong belief in the importance of inclusivity for persons with special needs.

Nationwide Book Donation Drive

With the help of our aRWSome team members who offered their time and book donations, more than 10,000 books were collected in the inaugural book donation drive jointly organised by Resorts World Sentosa and the People’s Association (PA). Community Clubs (CC) including Marine Parade CC, Paya Lebar-Kovan CC, Tanjong Pagar CC, Bukit Batok CC and Nee Soon Central CC took part in this initiative to rally the public from 4 March to 17 April 2016. On 20 May 2016, team members gathered at the S.E.A. Aquarium to organise the donated books into a 4.5 metre-tall book shelf that was on display at Imagine | Native - Creative Fest for Kids! event. All books were distributed to children from low income families across Singapore.
