To mark Children for Children’s 10th year, 120 students from CHIJ (Kellock) put up an original musical production titled Journey To Your Dreams for 1,000 needy school children, building on the theme that children are never too young to make a difference. As part of the initiative, the children were also accompanied by over 100 aRWSome Volunteers, and treated to a jaunt at The Maritime Experiential Museum and S.E.A. Aquarium. The event raised S$337,793 for The Business Times Budding Artists Fund, which provides financially disadvantaged children and youth with arts training and performing opportunities.
For the first time, the annual Children for Children performance was staged at Resorts World Theatre. Over 250 students from CHIJ (Kellock) performed an adaptation of the Singapore story interwoven with dance and choir performances for more than 700 needy school children. Accompanied by over 100 aRWSome Volunteers, the children then visited Universal Studios Singapore – a first for many of them – to conclude an exciting Children's Day. The event raised S$150,000 for the Sing50 Fund.
In a grand Children’s Day celebration, more than 1,200 pupils from over 50 primary schools stepped into Universal Studios Singapore for the first time, and were treated to a slew of theatre-dance performances put up by students of CHIJ (Kellock). 100 aRWSome Volunteers also lent their hands to the event, playing hosts to the children from underprivileged backgrounds. The event raised S$320,000 for The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists fund.
More than 1,200 children celebrated their Children’s Day at Universal Studios Singapore in 2013, marking RWS’ first year as an official venue partner for the event. Warmly welcomed with a series of interactive arts and craft activities, students also enjoyed a song-and-dance performance at the Pantages Hollywood Theatre before being accompanied by aRWSome volunteers to continue their day of fun and entertainment in the park.
