aRWSome Volunteer Day
aRWSome Volunteer Day is the company’s largest annual community outreach initiative, and leverages on its areas of specialisation. Done in collaboration with the various Community Development Councils (CDC) in Singapore, including Central Singapore and South West CDC, the programme helps to spruce up one and two-bedroom rental units located in the districts, and improve the living conditions of the residents. Started in 2017, the outreach programme was held for the second time in 2018, and involved a record number of over 370 volunteers.
2018
Looking to increase its outreach, RWS partnered both Central Singapore and South West CDCs in its second aRWSome Volunteer Day on 17 August 2018, and refurbished 45 homes in the Telok Blangah and Radin Mas precincts. More than 370 aRWSome volunteers were involved, spending over 3,000 volunteer hours in the second year of RWS Cares home refurbishment project. In addition to the furnishing and repair works carried out, a special National Day-inspired lunch party for about 100 elderly beneficiaries was also held at the Thye Hua Kwan Seniors Activity Centre @ Telok Blangah Crescent, treating them to a delectable lunch menu featuring Singapore flavours put together by celebrity chef Sam Leong of Forest森.
