Nationwide Ocean Conservation Art Competition

Following two successful editions of Recycling Art Competition, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) and Woodgrove Secondary School jointly organised the inaugural Nationwide Ocean Conservation Art Competition. The 18 winning artworks picked from over 900 outstanding entries were announced on 28 July 2017 in a special award ceremony at S.E.A. Aquarium.

The art pieces were inspired by S.E.A. Aquarium Society’s long-term conservation initiative of ‘Healthy Ocean, Healthy Us’ which highlights how ocean health is fundamentally linked to human health.

There are three themes:

  • Pre-school category: ‘Our Favourite Singapore Ocean Friends’
  • Primary school category: ‘Protecting Marine Life from Plastic Pollution’
  • Secondary school category: ‘The Cycle of Plastic Pollution’

All finalist art pieces are displayed on a specially designed Wall Mural for a limited period at the Ocean Dome of the S.E.A. Aquarium, next to the Open Ocean Habitat. You can view the outstanding winning art pieces here.

The Ocean Conservation Art Competition is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative launched in May 2017 as part of the World Oceans Day celebrations at S.E.A. Aquarium. It is aimed at reinforcing RWS’ commitment to environmental sustainability and provides a platform for students to express their knowledge on marine conservation through art. Prizes for winning participants include Ocean Dreams sleepover, Dolphin Discovery programme, S.E.A. Aquarium VIP tour and S.E.A. Aquarium Annual Pass.
