Problem Gambling
Gambling is a form of entertainment, but can quickly become a serious problem when it becomes an addiction.
How to determine if you have a gambling problem
Start by asking yourself the following questions:
| • | You have often gambled longer than you had planned |
| • | You have often gambled until your last dollar was gone |
| • | Thoughts of gambling have caused you to lose sleep |
| • | You have used your income or savings to gamble while letting bills go unpaid |
| • | You have made repeated, unsuccessful attempts to stop gambling |
| • | You have broken the law or considered breaking the law to finance your gambling |
| • | You have borrowed money to finance your gambling |
| • | You have felt depressed or suicidal because of your gambling losses |
| • | You have been remorseful after gambling |
| • | You have gambled to get money to meet your financial obligations |
If you have answered YES to any of the above questions, then you may have a gambling problem.
If you are still unsure and wish to talk to someone about it, please call the National Council on Problem Gambling helpline at 1800-6-668-668.
Casino Exclusion
Casino Exclusion is a social safeguard administered by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) to prevent problem gamblers and those with financial difficulties from entering casinos in Singapore.
Self Exclusion
If you wish to exclude yourself from the casinos, you may apply online at
www.ncpg.com.sg using your Singpass. If you would like to seek help, please call the problem gambling helpline at 1800-6-668-668.
Family Exclusion
You might wish to apply for Family Exclusion to bar a family member who has caused serious harm to the family due to gambling. Before you do that, you are encouraged to try to resolve the issue first within your family. If you are unable to resolve the issue and would like to explore the Family Exclusion option, you can approach NCPG's designated counselling centre, Tanjong Pagar Family Service Centre. A hearing will be held by a Committee of Assessors to decide if it is in the best interests of the family to issue the Family Exclusion Order.
Third-Party Exclusion
If you are an undischarged bankrupt or receiving financial aid from the Singapore Government, you will be automatically excluded. You do not need to apply.
