Michael Graves

Michael Graves

As master architect, Michael spearheads the overall design and architecture of the Resort. Besides his signature tropical architecture seen throughout the resort, his namesake Hotel Michael will be furnished with items from crockery to furniture and paintings that reflect his flair for creating eye-catching yet functional designs.

A living legend, Michael has been very much at the forefront of architectural design. He has been accredited with directly influencing the transformation of urban architecture, and is identified as one of The New York Five, the most highly acclaimed of architects in New York City. Graves also achieved international fame in product design in 1985, with the famous stainless steel kettle with a singing-bird for Italian household brand, Alessi.

His firm, Michael Graves & Associates, has received numerous prestigious awards, such as the American Institute of Architects Gold Medal in 2001, The President of the United States National Medal of Arts 1999, and the AIA-New Jersey Lifetime Achievement Award for Michael Graves in 2005.

The architectural practice has designed over 350 buildings worldwide encompassing many building types, including the Trump International Hotel (Florida), Walt Disney World Swan Hotel (Florida), Three on the Bund (Shanghai), and the National Automobile Museum (The Hague).

DP Architects

DP Architects is the master planner for RWS and works alongside Michael Graves & Associates to oversee and realize the vision of the Resort.

DP Architects is a full service architecture firm based in Singapore with offices in Malaysia, Indonesia, India, China, Thailand, and United Arab Emirates. The firm’s portfolio, developed over 30 years, includes a wide spectrum of building types, from commercial and residential to mixed development, institutional, religious, industrial, hospitality and transportation. The firm is a BCI-Asia Top 10 laureate, an award given to the most active architectural firms in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong-Macau.

Their projects span across Asia, Middle East and Europe, including the Esplanade Theatres on the Bay in Singapore, the Dubai Mall and Hotel in Dubai, and the Great Mall of China in Beijing.

Jeremy Railton

Jeremy is the creator of the resort’s signature performance, the Crane Dance, a multimedia animatronics spectacle with light, laser, sound and fire performed at the waterfront; as well as other performances and shows throughout the Resort.

Jeremy is arguably one of today's most prolific art directors and production designers in the world. His extensive experience include live concert staging, television concert specials and music videos for international stars such as Phil Collins, Luther Vandross, Cher, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Rod Stewart, Diana Ross and Julio Iglesias.

Jeremy is a four-time Emmy winner, which includes art direction for Pee Wee’s Playhouse, costume design for Hallmark’s Hall of Fame children’s series Zoobilee Zoo, art direction of the 57th Annual Academy Awards and the design of the Opening Ceremony for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.

Jeremy has also received the coveted Lester Horton Award for Excellence in dance design, the Art Director's Guild Award for his work on The 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and four THEA Awards, presented by the Themed Entertainment Association.

Mark Fisher

Mark Fisher

Mark is the producer of the Resort’s resident show, Le Vie, an epic theatrical production told through powerful music, dazzling stage sets and splendid costumes.

Renowned worldwide for his set conceptualisation and design of some of the world’s most spectacular concerts ever staged, including The Wall for Pink Floyd, Steel Wheels and Bridges to Babylon for The Rolling Stones as well as ZooTV and Popmart for U2, Mark also designed the theatre and scenery for KÀ, Cirque du Soleil’s resident show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, as well as the backdrop for We Will Rock You, the Queen musical that has been playing to millions of audiences worldwide since 2002.

His impressive clientele – both past and present – reads like a list of who's who in the music industry, including Elton John, Tina Turner, Robbie Williams, Janet Jackson, Phil Collins and Cher.

His very own production, The Mark Fisher Studio, has also designed numerous one-off events and fixed installations, such as the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies, the MTV European Music Awards (2003-2005), MTV Movie Awards (2000-2005) and the Nelson Mandela Foundation World Aids Day Concert (2003).

Dave Stewart

Dave Stewart

The maestro behind the music and scores for Le Vie, the resort’s resident show, Dave’s music will complement the acrobatic performances, dazzling props, and elaborate costumes that will make the nightly show the talk of the town.

Legendary musician/songwriter/producer and multimedia entrepreneur Dave Stewart has sold 75 million records in the past 25 years as part of the band Eurythmics (and over 100 million total across his career). Described by Bob Dylan as a “fearless innovator and a visionary of high order”, he has won numerous awards as a producer and songwriter, including a Golden Globe in 2005, shared with Mick Jagger for their contribution to the Alfie remake soundtrack.

Weapons of Mass Entertainment is his brainchild, and the company is committed to marrying the creative with the philanthropic, which has long been a trademark of his career, using his artistic talents to further the causes of Greenpeace, Amnesty International and the global fight against AIDS. Some of his projects include "The Canary Effect", a documentary about the devastating effect US policies have had on the Indigenous people of America; "Walk In", a graphic novel produced for Virgin Entertainment, "Off The Record", the HBO series where Stewart takes viewers inside the minds of some of music's legendary performers.

Ralph Appelbaum

Ralph Appelbaum

Ralph is the designer for the resort’s Maritime Xperiential Museum. At this attraction, visitors get to explore the history of the maritime Silk Route, which linked China and Arabia, in a 360-degree multimedia theatre and a wreck aquarium.

With 25 years of involvement in every facet of museum and exhibition design, Ralph is a recipient of the Presidential Award for Design Excellence. His renowned work for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and for the American Museum of Natural History has won every major design award, and he is a frequent lecturer at local, national, and international conferences on a wide variety of issues related to museum design.

His firm, Ralph Appelbaum Associates (RAA) founded in 1978 and based in New York with offices in London and Beijing, are planners, designers, and producers of award-winning museum exhibitions, visitor centers, and educational environments. Currently the largest interpretive museum design firm in the world, RAA is best known for large-scale, permanent museum projects. Examples of their projects include the American Museum of Natural History (New York), National Maritime Museum (London), The Royal Museum (Edinburgh).

Henry Steed

Henry Steed

As a landscape consultant, Henry’s manicured floral displays and planting beds are works of art in their own right. Henry’s designs for the resort blends the tropical architecture of the sprawling resort with the natural beauty of Sentosa island’s tropical rainforest.

As Landscape Consultant and Integrated Environmental Designer of ICN Design International, Henry has extensive experience in tropical Landscape Architecture, becoming well known in the region for projects in Leisure and Recreation Landscapes, Festival Parks and Gardens, Historic Restoration, Zoological and Bird Gardens, Theme Parks, Civic Buildings Institutions, Business Parks and Public Parks.

“The Philosophers Seat”, designed by Henry, was the award winning garden of the Singapore International Garden Festival. The garden won a Gold Award for Landscape Design and was awarded 'Best Garden Of The Show'.

Aquatic Environmental Systems

Aquatic Environmental Systems, is working with RWS to provide developed design services for the Resort's 20-million gallon oceanarium, The Marine Life Park.

The firm specializes in operating, designing and constructing aquariums, marine mammal and aquatic zoological exhibits, as well as life support systems for aquariums. Its company principal, Christopher John Warner, has over 30 years of experience in designing, operating and curating aquariums.

Some of the firm's work include the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium (China), Guangzhou Ocean World (China), Sea World Shark Bay (Australia), Manly Marineland (Australia), Underwater World, Queensland (Australia) and the Tivolo Opera House Aquarium (Denmark).

 

Chermayeff & Poole

Peter Chermayeff

American aquarium specialist, Chermayeff & Poole, is the consultant for the resort's 20-million gallon Marine Life Park, providing concept development services.

Based in Boston, Chermayeff & Poole is a firm of architects, planners and exhibit designers founded in 1998 by Peter Chermayeff, Peter Sollogub and Bobby Poole. Chermayeff and Poole design aquariums as a specialty. Their projects include the expansion of the National Aquarium in Maryland, Duesseldorf Aquarium in Germany, and the Osaka Aquarium in Japan.

Some of Peter Chermayeff's work include the New England Aquarium in Boston, 1969, followed by the National Aquarium in Baltimore, 1981, the Ring of Fire Aquarium in Osaka,

1990, the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, 1992, the Genoa Aquarium in Italy, 1992, and the Oceanário de Lisboa in Portugal, 1998.

Melchers Project Management and Whitewater West Industries

Melchers Project Management, in collaboration with Whitewater West Industries, are consultants for the Resort’s Equarius Water Park, involved in the conceptual design of the park.

Melchers’ expertise and experience in the attractions industry include themed zones, theme parks, water parks and indoor amusement centres. Their work spans all aspects of project development from conception, investment, technical design and supply. Some of the key projects that MPM have been involved in include NTUC Escape Theme Park in Singapore and Sun Island Water Park in Shanghai. It also supplied the rides for parks such as Sea World in Australia, Ocean Park in Hong Kong, and Expo Land in Osaka, Japan.

Whitewater West Industries is one of the largest and most experienced builder of waterparks and aquatic attractions in the world. Its expertise includes design, engineering, manufacturing, project management, construction and supervision. Their selection of waterpark products include waterslides, AquaPlay™ interactive play structures, wave pool equipment and water-based amusement park rides. Past projects include the Atlantis Resort (Bahamas), Mala Bay (Taiwan), Atlantis Palm Island (Dubai), Tropical Islands (Germany).
