Progress Update
New Bridge Begins, New Road Nears End.

Sentosa Island

RWS has begun work on a bridge that will ease traffic into Sentosa when the Resort opens in early 2010. With three-lanes and stretching 710 metres, the link will run parallel to the current Sentosa bridge. Upon its completion, the two bridges will merge into a seven-lane express connector into Sentosa island.

Other traffic-easing measures are concurrently being put into place. In March, motorists entering Sentosa will cruise on a new and wide split-lane road. Two lanes will be dedicated to take drivers straight into the 4,100-lot underground carpark at the Resort. Sentosa’s admission booths will be beefed up in numbers and moved from their current spot at the Sentosa Gateway onto the road itself, midway between the two roundabouts.

  Construction Update

RWS awarded the above-ground superstructure contract, worth over S$1 billion to Japanese construction company, Kajima Construction.

The company will undertake the superstructure development of the central zone, which includes Hotel Michael, the Le Vie showroom, Maxims Residences and FestiveWalk.

Construction will ramp up towards mid-2008, with as many as 8,000 workers laboring round-the-clock.

  MICE

Bringing the fun back into business. With this proposition, RWS has started reaching out to the market for meetings and incentive travel through several trade shows in the first quarter of 2008.

RWS was at the Singapore Tourism Board India Roadshow, AIME (Asia-Pacific Incentive & Meetings Expo), as well as ITB Berlin. These events are the perfect occasion to showcase the compelling venues the resort can offer its business travelers. Whether it is a Hollywood Boulevard theme party in Universal Studios Singapore® or a gala dinner at the Marine Life Park, event organizers could pick from close to 20 venues spread over more than 60,000 sqm of event space.

Human Resources
RWS currently has about 170 staff members. As staff numbers continue to rise, employee welfare remains a priority. The RWS Corporate Office opened its Wellness Centre in January. Here, staff can seek reprieve after a hard day’s work by sinking into massage chairs and the world of television.

Others

Resorts World at Sentosa recently secured S$4 billion credit facilities for its resort development. This amount adds up to two-thirds of its S$6 billion project cost. The remaining amount will be funded through equity raised from parent company, Genting International’s rights issue in 2007. In total, five local and international banks, including DBS Bank and Royal Bank of Scotland, will underwrite, bookrun and arrange the syndication of the loan, until 2015. This syndication is among the largest ever undertaken in Singapore.
